Strength, card 8 of the Major Arcana, shows a woman handling a lion with remarkable calm. She has no visible weapon or armour. Her hands are gentle, and the lion appears willing to remain with her.
The card concerns the inner strength that lets you stay present in a difficult situation. Courage may mean speaking up, continuing after a setback or responding patiently when anger would be easier. Compassion is part of that strength, including compassion towards yourself.
Where the Chariot directs its energy towards a goal, Strength pays attention to how that energy is handled. Desire, fear and anger need to be acknowledged. The card asks how you can work with them without letting them determine every action.
